12.1. The front panel is stained / scorched

The front panel is stained / scorched

First, we need to establish what sort of staining or marking is on the front panel.

Will the staining come off when using a damp cloth when the heater is cool?

IF YES:

That's good!  This means the issue is staining caused by something in the environment.

Common causes are:

• Tobacco Smoke

• Candles, air fresheners, joss sticks

• Cooking particles

• Road traffic fumes (especially if you live on a main road)

• Household dust

• Recent decorating activitied - paint fumes and solvents

We recommend keeping the heater clean by wiping the front of the heater every so often with a clean damp cloth, when the heater is cool.

IF NO:

It does sound like the panel may be scorched from excessive heat if cleaning the panel with a damp cloth doesn't alter the look of the discoloration.

This could be caused by one of the following:

• Covering / obstructing the heater (including drying laundry on the heater) This could be stains from a pair of jeans left on the heater, the dye from the back of a leather sofa or excessive heat buildup scorching the panel due to an obstruction.

• Incorrect installation - typically the inner front panel not fitted correctly allowing excess heat escaping the heater core, scorching the front cover.

The front panel is made fron a baked on powder coated paint which is very resilliant to heat, so actual scorching will be due to the above reasons.

These are not product faults - they will either be environmental or installation issues not covered by warranty. Whilst a customer is welcome to send us photos, the likelyhood of it being a fault with the product is slim.

Example of incorrect inner panel installation causing front panel to be scorched. Scorch marks line up where the "tongues" of the inner core were not inserted into the chassis correctly.

12.2. The wall around the heater is stained

The wall around the heater is stained

This is not a fault with the product.

There is nothing inside the heater which will cause wall staining. Wall staining will be caused by environmental contaminants in the air which pass through the heater, are heated up, then exit the heater and stick to the wall.

These airborne contaminants include dust, traffic fumes, fatty cooking vapours, tobacco smoke, air fresheners, oil burners, burning candles, joss sticks etc.

Where possible avoid creating airborne contaminants. Frequent vacuum cleaning is reccomended and where the wall covering allows, wiping the walls with a damp cloth to remove any buildup of stains.
