What electricity tariffs can Quantum RF use?

Quantum is compatable with most electricity tariffs. It is designed to take up to 7 hours of off-peak electricity overnight. There are some tariffs that offer more hours than this. Quantum will calculate what charge it needs each midnight and then when it next "sees" off-peak electricity, will take it up to the calculated amount when it can. Quantum RF also makes a midday calculation too, to help take advantage of an afternoon charge offered by Economy 10 tariffs if required.

Note, there are tariffs out there where only 4 or 5 hours of cheap off-peak electricity are available in a 24 hour period. These are more commonly marketed for charging Electric Vehicles overnight (Octopus Go is a 4 hour overnight EV car tariff for example) and if used with a Quantum storage heater, may result in a heater which is not warm enough on the coldest of nights when the heater needs to charge more than 4 or 5 hours each night. Remember the heater sizing is based on that heater being able to take up to 7 hours off-peak electricity if the heater needs to!

If the heater is on a Single Supply cable, the heater needs regular off-peak times for it's off-peak supply as up to 4 off-peak charge times can be programmed into the Quantum for single supply.

Lastly - there are special tariffs from suppliers such as OVO Energy. This uses the Dimplex Hub to tell the Quantum RF heaters what their charge times are and this is controlled by the energy supplier. Currently only OVO offer this but we are looking at partnering with other suppliers soon. Trials will hopefully be underway with EDF Energy and Kaluza.
